I think it is interesting how radio dramatically changed because of the direction audiences leaned toward.  The idea of what is considered popular contemporary music is not the same for everyone. As stated in the book "Contemporary music is the dialogue of youth providing a sense of psychological freedom for the listener and a sense of artistic freedom for the performer" (300). Last statement shows the intention of radio and the instrument it can be to send messages coming from the youth. I also think it is interesting how radio is seen has a democratic tool. I never saw radio in that context, but rather took it for granted.
