Chapter 3 was really fun for me to read through, because I'm an English major. haha

BUT, despite being an English major, this chapter still displayed writing techniques that I'm completely new to. The part that stood out to me the most was the section on style. It was interesting to me because it's all writing for, as the book says, "the ear and eye." You're supposed to be brief, don't have a tone that's too formal, and be very natural. You can use bad grammar, but only if it's purposely supposed to fit the character that's reading it. This was all really interesting to me, but it's also rather difficult to fully understand. I know this sounds like the more simple way of writing, but for someone who has been trained in "scholarly" and "formal" type of writing her whole life, this is all so new and challenging. I'm looking forward to writing more for this class and hopefully training my brain to express things in an entirely different way.

Isn't cool how all majors relate to each other, haha. but really, its amazing how much of it is also applied to life

I can relate to how you feel. Being a Hispanic person, my primarily language is Spanish (of course), and in Spanish I have a writing style. Once I came to Ozarks I had to adjust the way I write, not only the language itself but also the style I use to write in English is a bit different. I guess it all falls into the idea of writing according to the context and public you want to reach.
